A proper inspection comes before a repair
A repair decision depends on where the object entered, the size and type of damage, remaining tread, internal condition and whether the tyre has been driven while flat. A visible nail in the tread does not by itself prove that a safe permanent repair is possible.
The wheel may need to be removed and the tyre examined internally. Sidewall damage, exposed cords, severe cracking, deformation, previous unsuitable repairs or damage caused by running flat normally point towards replacement rather than another patch.
