Caravan tyres usually age out before they wear out
Most caravans cover far fewer miles than a car, so the tread can look healthy while the rubber is past its best. The Caravan and Motorhome Club advises replacing caravan tyres at five years old regardless of tread, and the date code on the sidewall tells you how old they are. Cracking in the sidewall, bulges and flat spots from months parked up are all reasons to replace sooner.
Caravans are heavy for their size and usually run on just two tyres, so the load index matters more than on most cars. We check the full sidewall marking and your caravan’s plated weight before we fit, and we can replace both tyres together so they age and wear evenly. Towing a caravan into a tyre centre isn’t easy, which is why we come to you.
