Balanced as part of a correct fitting

Mobile Wheel Balancing

AH electronically balances fitted replacement tyres at your location. If vibration already exists, the fitter can assess whether imbalance is a likely cause or whether the wheel, tyre, alignment or suspension needs further attention.

Service explained

Why wheel balance matters

A tyre and wheel assembly has small variations in mass. Balancing identifies where corrective weights are needed so the wheel can rotate more evenly. This helps reduce vibration and avoids adding unnecessary stress to the tyre, steering and suspension.

Steering shake at a certain speed can be associated with imbalance, but it can also come from a buckled wheel, damaged tyre, poor centring, alignment or worn suspension components. Mobile balancing is not a substitute for mechanical diagnosis when the symptoms point elsewhere.

Balance, alignment and vibration are not the same problem

Balancing addresses weight distribution around the wheel. Alignment concerns the angles at which the wheels meet the road. A mobile balance cannot correct tracking, bent suspension or steering wear, so the cause matters before money is spent.

Mention when the vibration occurs, whether it is felt through the steering wheel or seat, and whether it began after a pothole impact, tyre replacement or lost wheel weight. That history helps the fitter decide whether mobile balancing is suitable.

Service questions

Wheel Balancing FAQs

For an urgent immobilised vehicle, call from a protected location.

Is wheel balancing included with a replacement tyre?

Yes. AH electronically balances tyres supplied and fitted during the mobile visit, subject to the wheel being suitable for the equipment and safe to use.

Will balancing fix every steering vibration?

No. Vibration may also come from tyre damage, wheel distortion, alignment, brakes, steering or suspension. The symptoms and visible condition are assessed first.

What is the difference between balancing and alignment?

Balancing corrects weight distribution in a rotating wheel-and-tyre assembly. Alignment adjusts wheel angles and normally requires dedicated garage equipment.

Can AH balance wheels at my workplace?

Potentially, provided the van can access a permitted, level area with room to remove the wheel and operate the equipment safely.
